zip -9 -r --exclude=*sites/default/files* locald8.zip locald8/
This command will zip the entire website folder by excluding the sites/default/files folder and subfolders.

Now that "drush ard" is dead i was looking for a "compact - light" solution through the terminal. This is what i came up with, in order to dump archive the minimum amount of files and directories.

Finding largest tables on MySQL instance is no brainier in MySQL 5.0+ through terminal:

I am so used running drush ard etc these days that i have almost forgot the good all mysql dump database terminal commands.
This is just for future reference in case i forget them somehow :)
For Export:
mysqldump -u [user] -p [db_name] | gzip > [filename_to_compress.sql.gz]
For Import:
gunzip

The fastest way to install a site is by using Drush. You can skip most of the other steps above too.
